Erasmus+ Student and Staff Mobility is a program that aims to bring different cultures together academically and socially by encouraging cooperation between higher education institutions. The task of Istanbul Technical University Erasmus Office is to organize mobility with program countries (KA131) and partner countries (KA171) within the scope of Erasmus Program and create awareness and familiarity about Erasmus activities.

Istanbul Technical University has Inter-institutional agreements with more than 340 universities from 37 different countries. In addition, with 18 years of experience, it is one of the universities with the highest Erasmus Budget in Turkey. ITU Erasmus Office has been awarded the "Erasmus Quality Certificate" given by the Turkish National Agency for its success in the "Student Mobility for Studies" activity in the 2012-2013 academic year.

Grant support from European Union (EU) funds is provided by the Turkish National Agency to students and academic/administrative staff who want to carry out mobility in program countries or partner countries.

Istanbul Technical University has sent a total of 6100 students abroad since the beginning of Erasmus exchange programs (including the 2020-2021 academic year). In addition, it hosted approximately 3250 students from European countries. Currently, within the scope of Erasmus, ITU sends an average of 450 students abroad and hosts 250 students per year.
