İTÜ Arı Teknokent companies are crowned by BEETECH 2018 awards

On November 15, 2018 at İTÜ Magnet the 3rd BEETECH Technology Awards are granted to the projects carried out and technology products advanced by İTÜ ARI Technokent companies. Within the scope of the award ceremony and according to the performance criteria of İTÜ ARI Teknokent, 14 companies are awarded in 5 different categories and 4 companies are given special prizes in the categories of R&D pioneers, start-up, Entrepreneruship Capital and Contribution to the Ecosystem. The incubator companies awarded are Almas, Misone, Metrobi, İugo; the small-scale companies awarded are Trend, AVCR, Erlab, Mitos, Mikro Elektronik; mediuö-scale companies awarded are Analog Devices, Defne, Fev and big-scale companies awarded are Ercisson and Vodafone. Last but not least; Lütfi Yenel, Scoutium, 500 Startups and Cardtek are awarded by special prizes.

Rector of İTÜ, Karaca:  “We are proud for our contribution to our country by 272 million USD R&D export.”

Rector of Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, quoted “We are delighted to increase Turkey’s competition power in technology at the global scale with more than 270 technology firms, 7000 personnel and 600 projects per year under the auspices of İTÜ ARI Teknokent, recognized as the entrepreneurship and innovation base of Turkey. The 2017 turnover of our firms exceeds 1 billion USD and R&D export exceeds 40 million USD. Sice its foundation, with 2,500 completed R&D projects and 272 million USD R&D export, we are proud to serve to our country by our contribution.”

During the event, the ceremony for change of General Manager of  İTÜ ARI Teknokent was also hosted. Orhan Kenan Çolpan, the General Manager of İTÜ ARI Teknokent was succeded by the Vice General Manager Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Tunçalp. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tunçalp was quoted “İTÜ ARI Teknokent ranked first among the technology development zones with the success of technology firms and willingness of our whole team. We will always continue on working for İTÜ ARI Teknokent to be a unique technology and innovation ecosystem at the global level.” Tunçalp also emphasized 2019 targets and projects of İTÜ ARI Teknokent and said “ARI 7 building is being implemented; which will house approximately 75 firms. While we will prioritize intelligent movement, automative and electric vehicle technologies, we are also targeting to meet the growth expectations of our current companies.”

Below are the İTÜ ARI Teknokent Firms awarded by BEETECH 2018

According to company scales, 14 companies are awarded in 5 different categories: ‘Incubator’, ‘Small’, ‘Medium’ and ‘Big’. Analog Devices from the medium-scale companies are awarded in three different categories; while Ericsson from the big-scale companies received four awards in different categories. Special prizes are also given during the ceremony. The R&D Pioneers Special Prize is given to the CEO of Kron, Mr. Lütfi Yenel, Growth Performence and Start-up Special Prize is given to Scoutium, Special Prize for 500 start-ups that invest the most in the entrepreneurship ecosystem and contribution to ecosystem is given to Cardtek.
